Just finished Vesak.  My reward is a bad cold.  I think I got it while cleaning the vacuum the other day.  I was trying to blow the pipes clean and got a bunch of dirt in my mouth.  Now my body is in major detox.

The neighbours in the annex put up some lights and lanterns for the celebration.  Some lovely chanting went along with the lighting of the lanterns.

Lanterns hanging among the plants in the front yard.  Beautiful, but I was worried if they caught fire.  They are just paper with an open candle flame inside.  Of course, they were left hanging when it started raining.  I rescued them.  One is now a light shade in my bathroom and the rest are hanging on the veranda awaiting the next party.  They make great party lanterns.

Lights going up the garden stairs.

The colours of the Buddhist flag.  White, red, yellow, and blue.  Apparently the colour of the Buddha's aura.

From inside the house.

From inside the house.
Apart from that, the garden is doing well.  We have had a lot of rain, so that helps.

These are the standard amaryllis on which all the hybrids are based.  We have a lot of them.

One of the showy big varieties.
My lovely cat continues to balloon.  I have finally discovered how to keep her food out without it being invaded by ants.  Despite the fact that she does not finish more than one bowl a day, she is fat.
Here she is supervising some paperwork.  Everyone thinks she is pregnant.
She is not a patch (ha ha!) on the cats at Bougainvillea where we have our film club.  This is the largest.  He/she is almost as big as the dog who is part German Shepard.

They make them big in Norway

Off to cure my cold.
