June 18, 2019

I was invited to dinner at a friend's on the other side of town on Sunday night, so my friend Judith who was also invited asked me stay overnight with her as she lives close by. We had a nice dinner at Douglas's and a relatively good night's sleep on Judith's hard-as-a-plank guest bed. After a lovely breakfast, we were heading out to go to the swimming pool at the hotel next door. We were standing under the porte cochère where her four dogs and the dog from next door had all congregated.  Her youngest dog, Alby started barking which got all of them going.  Alby's sister Stigly started growling and then bit me.  I couldn't believe it as I had never been bitten by a dog before.  Then she bit me again.  We managed to back her off and I ran up the steps back to the house.

I wasn't badly injured, although I have 5 actual punctures which bled.  The worst of it is that I went into shock and almost blacked out.  It is a terrible feeling.  Thankfully, Stigly has had her rabies shots so there is no danger there.  So there is another thing I can cross off my bucket list for this life.

We never made it to the pool.  This is the second time we have tried to go to that pool and have been foiled.  Maybe it is not meant to be.

Otherwise, things are pretty much back to normal although there is an undercurrent of worry that something else could happen at any moment.  We just have to get on with life and not obsess about it.

Here is the latest picture of all my non-biting cats on a rare occasion when they are all together.  I say they do not bite, although Aya, the big white cat in the middle, does give me love nips with his small middle teeth.  Good thing he is not inclined to bite me as he has huge fangs.
