Continuing on.......

I think I have said before that train service between Kandy and Colombo is quite good.  Of course, in typical Sri Lankan style, one of the air conditioned trains has no air conditioning.  I think I will take the AC bus down when I go on Sunday.  Back once more for the next round of visa crap.

Some of my furniture has been delivered.  It looks good.  As usual, there are a few problems.  Like he made 4 night stands.  3 are one height and 1 is shorter.  Stupid!

My garden is going to seed in a big way as my gardener has failed to show up again.  Plus I have plants that need planting.  Now I am on the hunt for a gardener.  One of my neighbours has a nice garden.  I went over there the other day.  She gave me a tour.  They are right on the river.  The view is great and it is much cooler.  Although the river is mud right now as they are holding everything behind the dam.  You can see all the garbage they have been throwing into it.  It is a disgrace.

I was out on the veranda the other day and had my first encounter of the snakey kind.  Craaaaaaaaaaaap!  Big snake.  It was all I could do to keep from shrieking.  After I got over the initial fright, I looked at him and realized that he was not a cobra and he was quite handsome as snakes go.  About 6 or 7 feet long if he stretched out.  After making inquiries, it turns out it is a rat snake.  Not venomous nor a constrictor.  It just swallows its prey.  Apparently my cat is too big for his taste.  Good thing as she is quite small.  At least I have not seen any rats.  Thank you scary snake.

I politely asked him to leave, and he did.

There are other big slimy things in my garden too.  Like snails.  Of course, we have mega slugs in BC as well.  At least a snail has the decency to put on clothes.

Other than that, the granite counter top has gone in and looks great.  On Saturday, more furniture is arriving.  Soon, I will be living in the lap of luxury.

Now I am off to teach my maid how to make Greek salad as I have fresh goat feta courtesy of Moorock.
